Garage Sale finds!

I'm so excited to renew and improve my garage sale finds! It was a lucky turn one Saturday morning out garage sale shopping with a good friend and my daughter! We came across a guy selling some real vintage steals. All that is shown in the above photos for $20. I'm thinking I will use the vintage suitcase as a computer table for my bedroom also as a photo prop. I love it when crafter's add wheels to suitcases like this, it wont work for this case but possibly in the future! Check back for improvements to my finds!

{wiww}~ Ruby

What i Wore Wednesday~
One of the best gifts I ever received came from my Grandma. She wore this ruby ring my entire life and just recently gave it to me. It's simply stunning and I received so many complements I thought I would post a wiww(what i wore wednesday). My striped dress is from a new favorite boutique in Kailua HI called Mahina. Strapy flat sandals from Target (one of the only stores that stocks lots of 10's). Last but not least tiny coin with a turquoise stone from Miss Priss Jewelery because I have to add turquoise to everything!

Chalkboard Wall....

Today we are adding a little color to our kitchen. One wall for drawings, words to live by, menu, homework and more....yes all that on one wall. We measured the wall very carefully getting its exact size. We then cut a piece of 1/4 inch Masonite board exactly the same size as our wall. The Masonite cuts fairly clean so just use a fine sand paper to quickly finish edges. Follow the directions on your chalkboard paint can. I suggest using roll on from a can and not the spray can. I made that mistake and 2 cans later at $7 each I still had to go buy a quart of real chalkboard paint. It will last for many more projects to come. The chalkboard paint suggests to paint 2-3 coats and wait 3 days to chalk it. We hung ours with a chunky bolt and washer. I wanted the hardware look. Be sure to secure at the top and bottom corners and also in the middle, possibly more depending on the size of your board.

Enjoy the art, this board has opened a whole new door of communication in our house. Leave messages to your kids as they read it, it will spark conversation and then they can communicate through drawing and creating art.
TIPS: The chalk can get dusty so be sure to have slightly damp rags or old t shirts around.
Also do not use sidewalk chalk! Enjoy!

Summer Cupcake WARS!

My family is always at the beach or watching cupcake wars, so I thought I would share these cute beach cupcakes. They are just so beachy....I've been working hard at getting out of the house during our kitchen remodel so posts are few and far between but I have been working on some fun party printables (to be posted soon).

Oh baby!

A friend messaged me asking about baby shower blogs or ideas. So because I want to throw a party so bad (instead of unpacking) I made up a couple invites. Just for fun! If you need an invite or an idea/theme for a party feel free to email.

Yellow and Gray are my favorite colors right this moment. How great is a plain white cake or cupcake on a bright yellow stand. They taste so much better with out the artificial coloring.

Stacking Organizers

I've been in search of a cheap way to add some great patterns and color to my craft room as well as useful organizers. I really like open top boxes and bins.
Print your Stack & Nest Quilted Block project pattern today. This pattern is for home use only. As always, if you end up making this project, they would love to see it in the Sew,Mama,Sew! Flickr pool.

I would really like to order fabric and sew 100 open top bins but I know that is unrealistic anytime, especially in the summer! So think I will just measure the space and order my favorite "Square Utility Tote" from Thirty-One Gifts. I might need to add a couple "Large Utility Totes" for Fabric and while i'm at it "Little's carry all caddy". Hey Sis (my rep) I'll be calling in my order. How fast can I get it? So Sew, Thirty-One, Sew!

Fathers Day Craft!

I'm still trying to find the perfect gift for the kids to give to their DAD. They want to make something and all three of my kids are very crafty (at staying up past bed time and conning me into giving them dessert). So I found this idea and plan to start the project tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes and if the tutorial works well. Here it is "Rolled Paper Chess Set" I dont know if my husband likes to play chess but he's a know it all so i'm sure he has played and it just looks cool.I have about 3/4 of the office and Craft room unpacked, cant wait to get crafting so today we took and hour and made very simple but very fun paper bag puppets! Paper bag puppets are an old school kid craft but will always be part of my school. They are fun to make, always different and it was so great to see my little Grady jump in and really make his puppet the way he wanted it. His "GUY" turned out great. It's been a couple months since we have had all our stuff so it's very interesting to see how fast the y grow and change. PS I will be posting some mom projects very soon! stay tuned.....

Summer FUN!

My list of some summer fun and I want to share it all with you. Now just trying to decide what to do first. WE all know how summer goes, all kids all the time.....So I will post something everyday but it might just be something funny, beautiful, sad, cute, stylish or just a shot from the beach I was at that day! Summer Starts now! Not as much time to craft but time to collect!"The Mill" is a little vintage beach shop, offering collectables and nic-knacks. They have a huge collection of glass fishing floats. I could have spent the whole day just looking at everything in the store. One of my favorite things about this store were the rosters roaming around. It was a ton of fun for the kids. I found some great finds for upcoming posts. This summer take your kids to an antique store, it's great to hear what they think of some of that old stuff.

{Glass floats, glass fishing floats, or Japanese glass fishing floats: are popular collectors’ items. They were once used by fishermen in many parts of the world to keep their nets afloat. Large groups of fishnets strung together, sometimes 50 miles (80 km) long, were set adrift in the ocean and supported near the surface by hollow glass balls or cylinders containing air to give them buoyancy.

These glass floats are no longer being used by fishermen, but many of them are still afloat in the world's oceans, primarily the Pacific. They have become a popular collectors’ item for beachcombers and decorators. Replicas are also being manufactured.}

Crapy Tie Onsie!

Father's Day is coming up and instead of your kids buying dear Dad a tie (lets face it he doesn't wear them and even if he did it's kind of a lame gift) why dont you make funny shirts with ties. I think it would be cute to make the whole family one. I made this one for my son the morning of HIS School doughnuts with DAD. I made it out of an old pair of my husbands PJ'S. My son loves the shirt so much he wants to wear it everyday! I usually put a collared shirt over it, leaving it open. I did photograph steps to make it but I want to tell y'all about a really cute blog so I will direct you there for the tutorial. Its a great blog called "Crap I've Made", I love the title of her blog...it's great! Funny too because I rushed my sons so he could wear it that day and it's kind of crappy! Oh by the way I think every child should play with Tinker Toys and practice being little engineers.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles!

It's kind of funny when your unpacking boxes of felt food, play dishes and setting the tea table before unpacking the real kitchen. Our new kitchen will be remodeled so I cant unpack the boxes but once I can, I'm making these scrumptious looking truffles right away! They are so cute and would be even cutter on a lollipop stick! You can make them too.....check out the recipe from "Recipe Girl".

Got party decor?

After a really long trip to target and the grocery store I only unpacked a half dozen boxes and organized one closet. I'm so much happier to be blogging right now, even if all my kids are in my bed with me due to a really loud thunderstorm. I thought this would be easy to do...a blog post a day but it's harder than I thought. Choosing what to post that is. The options are endless but I want to blog on things I'm actually doing so as I get through a few more rooms of boxes I will get on that but for now you get post I dream of doing. I really want to be planning a party so today I'm posting some really cute party decor that I cant wait to use!

Wall Flowers that are soooo cute I'm making some to hang in my daughters room...These are made from paper napkins, you can view a great tutorial at "Dana made it".

Ok hold your pom-poms because the next party decor idea will ruffle your creative feathers!
Ruffled streamers!
So, I guess I should work on the office and craft room tomorrow, cant wait to stitch up some fun party decor. Maybe we will have a Luau!
p.s. I'll only post my pics in the pink frame....

B.Pop Beads

B.Pop-Arty! Funky Beads are our new favorite toy! This is my first blog post and it's a colorful one. My kids have been playing with these beads for three days straight, they all love them. My oldest daughter is almost 11 and my youngest is a boy and is just turning 3, the b.Pop bead kit at target is the best $ i have spent in a long time. I promise I wont make this blog all about shopping (well I'll try not to) but if my kids can craft and I know its something they can do without me having to scrape playdough out of the carpet or glue from hair then I'm happy! Sometimes moms just want to blog (or do the dishes). I know your kids will love them....be aware though if you have tiny people under 3 these are very small pieces and can be a choking hazard. My middle child fell in love with the girl on the tag so she had to do a photoshoot to be just like her! The b.bead jar came with a cute booklet with words of wisdom from children, I just loved it so i want to share some of them with you.
"Mommy you're the most beautiful woman in the whole world I ever saw before I left the house". Callie, age 2
"Water is composed of two gins, Oxygin and hydrogin. Oxygin is pure gin. Hydrogin is gin and water." Sam, age 11
"Belive in who you are and not who the person next to you is."
Savannah, 11
