Chalkboard Wall....

Today we are adding a little color to our kitchen. One wall for drawings, words to live by, menu, homework and more....yes all that on one wall. We measured the wall very carefully getting its exact size. We then cut a piece of 1/4 inch Masonite board exactly the same size as our wall. The Masonite cuts fairly clean so just use a fine sand paper to quickly finish edges. Follow the directions on your chalkboard paint can. I suggest using roll on from a can and not the spray can. I made that mistake and 2 cans later at $7 each I still had to go buy a quart of real chalkboard paint. It will last for many more projects to come. The chalkboard paint suggests to paint 2-3 coats and wait 3 days to chalk it. We hung ours with a chunky bolt and washer. I wanted the hardware look. Be sure to secure at the top and bottom corners and also in the middle, possibly more depending on the size of your board.

Enjoy the art, this board has opened a whole new door of communication in our house. Leave messages to your kids as they read it, it will spark conversation and then they can communicate through drawing and creating art.
TIPS: The chalk can get dusty so be sure to have slightly damp rags or old t shirts around.
Also do not use sidewalk chalk! Enjoy!
