Garage Sale finds!

I'm so excited to renew and improve my garage sale finds! It was a lucky turn one Saturday morning out garage sale shopping with a good friend and my daughter! We came across a guy selling some real vintage steals. All that is shown in the above photos for $20. I'm thinking I will use the vintage suitcase as a computer table for my bedroom also as a photo prop. I love it when crafter's add wheels to suitcases like this, it wont work for this case but possibly in the future! Check back for improvements to my finds!

{wiww}~ Ruby

What i Wore Wednesday~
One of the best gifts I ever received came from my Grandma. She wore this ruby ring my entire life and just recently gave it to me. It's simply stunning and I received so many complements I thought I would post a wiww(what i wore wednesday). My striped dress is from a new favorite boutique in Kailua HI called Mahina. Strapy flat sandals from Target (one of the only stores that stocks lots of 10's). Last but not least tiny coin with a turquoise stone from Miss Priss Jewelery because I have to add turquoise to everything!

Chalkboard Wall....

Today we are adding a little color to our kitchen. One wall for drawings, words to live by, menu, homework and more....yes all that on one wall. We measured the wall very carefully getting its exact size. We then cut a piece of 1/4 inch Masonite board exactly the same size as our wall. The Masonite cuts fairly clean so just use a fine sand paper to quickly finish edges. Follow the directions on your chalkboard paint can. I suggest using roll on from a can and not the spray can. I made that mistake and 2 cans later at $7 each I still had to go buy a quart of real chalkboard paint. It will last for many more projects to come. The chalkboard paint suggests to paint 2-3 coats and wait 3 days to chalk it. We hung ours with a chunky bolt and washer. I wanted the hardware look. Be sure to secure at the top and bottom corners and also in the middle, possibly more depending on the size of your board.

Enjoy the art, this board has opened a whole new door of communication in our house. Leave messages to your kids as they read it, it will spark conversation and then they can communicate through drawing and creating art.
TIPS: The chalk can get dusty so be sure to have slightly damp rags or old t shirts around.
Also do not use sidewalk chalk! Enjoy!

One of the hardest things to find is a good online fabric store. I just ran into a post from a fellow blogger and I love her suggestions. So as I'm perusing my next fabric purchase I thought I would share the info! Happy designs.... 6th Street Design School top fabric stores~

Summer Cupcake WARS!

My family is always at the beach or watching cupcake wars, so I thought I would share these cute beach cupcakes. They are just so beachy....I've been working hard at getting out of the house during our kitchen remodel so posts are few and far between but I have been working on some fun party printables (to be posted soon).
